Airbnb Turnover Cleaning in Grande Prairie: A Host's Checklist

Same-day turnovers, linen handling, restocking, photo proof and what to do when a guest leaves a mess. How Grande Prairie hosts keep five-star cleanliness scores.

Why turnovers are a different job than house cleaning

A regular house clean has one customer who knows the home. A short-term rental turnover has a new guest walking in with a phone camera and a review to write. Grande Prairie's rental market is driven by crews, contractors and families visiting the hospital or the college, and many of those bookings are back-to-back. That means the clean has to be done to a hotel standard, inside a checkout-to-check-in window, every single time.

The turnover checklist we run

  • Strip and remake every bed with fresh linen, including a check under the sheets for stains or damage.
  • Bathrooms to hotel standard: toilets, showers, mirrors, fresh towels folded the same way each time.
  • Kitchen reset: dishes done and put away, inside the microwave, fridge emptied of guest food, counters and stovetop cleaned.
  • Floors throughout, with extra attention to entryways in winter when salt and sand come in on boots.
  • Restock: toilet paper, paper towel, soap, coffee, and whatever your listing promises.
  • Staging: cushions, throws, remotes and welcome items back exactly where your photos show them.
  • Photo proof of every room sent to you when the crew leaves, so you know the unit is guest-ready without driving over.

Same-day turnarounds

Most Grande Prairie listings have an 11 a.m. checkout and a 3 or 4 p.m. check-in. We schedule turnovers into that window, and because every visit is GPS-tracked you can see exactly when the crew arrived and left. If a guest checks out late, tell us and we move; if the next guest is early, we prioritise bedrooms and bathrooms first so the unit is presentable the moment they arrive.

Linens: two ways to handle them

Either you keep two or three full sets on site and the crew swaps and launders between stays, or we take the used set and bring back clean. Hosts with multiple units usually go with the swap-and-launder approach so nothing leaves the property. Either way, bedding gets inspected every turnover, and we'll flag a worn or stained set before a guest does.

When a guest leaves a mess

It happens. Crews photograph anything beyond normal wear before touching it: broken items, smoking, pet damage, excessive garbage. You get the photos the same day with a note on what extra time it took, which is exactly what Airbnb's resolution centre asks for. We'll give you a heads-up before the clean runs long so there are no surprises on the bill.

Keeping your cleanliness rating at five stars

  • Use the same crew every turnover. They learn the quirks of your unit and the way you want it staged.
  • Keep a consistent supply closet so restocking is never a guess.
  • Schedule a deep clean every couple of months to reset the things turnovers skip: inside the oven, baseboards, under the beds, interior windows.
  • Book carpet and upholstery steam cleaning seasonally; sofas and bedroom carpet are what guests mention in reviews.

Pricing for hosts

Turnovers are quoted per visit based on the unit size and what's included, so you can build the exact amount into your cleaning fee. Hosts with more than one unit, or weekly turnovers, get a standing schedule and a standing rate. Full details are on our Airbnb cleaning page, or get an instant estimate and we'll confirm a per-turnover price. Call 780-228-8272 if you'd rather talk it through.
